Individual Membership

Be A Part of the FASS

Individual membership in the FASS is open to administrators and teachers who are interested in and support developmental education programs and goals. At present, the association has members in Florida community colleges, private post-secondary institutions, governmental agencies, and other professional organizations involved in delivering college preparatory instruction.

Florida Association for Student Success is a state chapter of the National Organization for Student Success. We are an organization that represents and supports educators, students, student support specialists, and administrators dedicated to promoting student success for all students, including the underprepared and underrepresented. We advocate for holistic solutions to facilitate student success and college completion.

Congratulations to our very own Sharisse Bronson Turner, past President and current Treasurer of FASS, as she is the recipient of the NOSS 2021 Gladys R. Shaw Award for Outstanding Service and Support for Student Success! Sharisse is most deserving of this recognition, and we are so proud that she represents FASS. Sharisse, we celebrate with you!

Student Spotlight

Ian Carter, from Ft. Pierce, Florida, is an alumnus from Tallahassee Community College.  He began his college career by earning his GED, enrolling at TCC, and taking Developmental Math.  This began his love of math and computer science.  While at TCC, Ian participated in the TCC Stem Center, Phi Theta Kappa, Math Champions, TCC Student Government and worked as an Orientation Leader. He also won the following awards: The Sally P. Search Leadership Award, The Stem Center Iron Man Award, The Helping Hand Award, Commitment to Excellence by TCC Stem center, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Deans of Math and the TCC Math Champions program.  Ian graduated with Honors from TCC and transferred to Florida State University. At FSU, Ian continued to be active on campus.  He was a “Transfer Genius” for the advising center, was president of the Google Developers Club, and taught a zoom class on Building Android Apps.  Ian graduated from FSU with a degree in Computer Science in December, 2021 and recently was hired as a Product Manager on the Cloud for Microsoft Corporation.  He has relocated to Seattle, Washington to continue his work with Microsoft.
